Where am I now?
For a long time, I’ve pursued a career in academia and medical sciences. Yet, apparently I needed to literally see what’s it like to be in academia, work with academics and actually be the one who has academic duties. In terms of science, I really enjoyed being a molecular biologist and immunologist when I’m in a well equipped laboratory and surrounded with extremely qualified scientists, since I can see a future involving myself. In academia, I’ve never been my best or the best employee the system wants. However in the lab and science, I’ve been always my best and one of the bests wherever I worked.
When I evaluated all these inputs considering my capabilities, talent, and what I want from my life, my deductions have led me a point where I can see a clear picture of my desires. Yes! I must desire my occupation to use my full potential and provide the maximum efficiency to create something useful.
I’ve decided that I cannot continue working in a position in which I need to be told what I’ll do and work on all the time, how much progress I should take, and when to do anything. It’s just not me to be the person who takes commands for even what to ‘say’ to others in the same workplace or how to behave like anyone but myself. Above everything else, a good academics needs to constantly flatter or compliment to anyone who may consider themselves to be important. No matter it’s a sincere one or not. Yes, I simply defined academia here.
So here, academia wants me to be someone who is anything to do with me and science wants me to make miracles without having any money, equipment, and qualified colleagues.
Where do I go from here?
Thus, where do I go from here? When I think about my career goals all over again, I can definitely say that academia is a big “NO” and lab science is also a “No” for me. From now on, I can reveal some of my future directions since it’s kind of obvious what we have here in academia.
Since 2019, I am kind of obsessed with data science. Yep! My new science favorite is Data Science 🤩 I started learning back then and I still continue. Since I have a full time work, only a limited time that I can spare for my self learning. But it’s going well. I very much enjoy learning Python, SQL, and R and so much more 🤹🏻♀️
I tried pretty much every online learning platform and I benefited from all. At the moment, I committed to finish **Data Scientist: Machine Learning Specialist** career path on Codecademy and ****Data Scientist in Python**** career path on DataQuest. Both platforms are great and I’ve learned so much and also did many projects along the paths. I still have some time to finish but I am kind of planning to progress faster since I also have plans to involve Data Science in my PhD thesis 🐣
In my first newsletter, I wanted to give a glimpse of what I’m up to right now. I am planning to continue this all year long and once per month intervals. I feel like I already liked sharing my thoughts about my progress and my data science journey.
See you the next one 🤓 Bye!
